Can you provide production support for a photo shoot in Los Angeles?

Yes. Hartman Production Co. provides production support for commercial, editorial and branded photo shoots throughout Greater Los Angeles, including transportation, logistics, prop and material sourcing, location prep, setup and strike, production design support, and experienced crew on set.

Can you help an out-of-town photographer or producer shooting in Los Angeles?

That is a large part of the work. If you are travelling to Los Angeles to shoot, we act as your ground team: production vehicles, equipment pickups from the rental houses, prop and material sourcing, location prep, and experienced hands on set. You arrive to a shoot that has already been set up rather than to a day of errands.

Do you provide production vehicles and equipment transportation?

Yes. We run production vehicles sized for photo and content shoots: enough capacity for grip, lighting, props, furniture and set materials, without the overhead of a full studio transportation package. We handle rental-house pickups and returns, prop and furniture transport, deliveries, load-ins, load-outs and location moves across Greater Los Angeles.

What is the difference between production support and a full-service production company?

A full-service production company takes the whole job: budget, bidding, casting, permits, crew, insurance and delivery. Production support covers a defined part of it — usually logistics, transportation, sourcing, prep and on-set crew. Hartman Production Co. is a production support company. On small and mid-size shoots we can carry most of the production; on larger ones we work alongside the lead production team inside our own scope.

Do you work on one-day shoots?

Yes, and single-day productions suit how we work. A right-sized crew, the vehicle the job actually needs, and one experienced person carrying logistics from prep through wrap is usually the correct shape for a one-day shoot.

Can you transport photo equipment and props?

Yes. Equipment transportation, prop and furniture transport, rental-house pickups and returns, vendor collections, deliveries, load-ins, load-outs and location moves throughout Greater Los Angeles.

Can you provide additional production crew?

Yes. We provide production support crew for shoot days — people who can handle gear, manage a location, meet vendors, and deal with the practical problems that surface once the day is running.

Can you help with production design and prop sourcing?

Yes. We support production design with sourcing, props, furniture, materials, transportation, installation, setup and strike. We can work to a designer’s list, or help work out what a shoot needs when nobody has drawn it yet.

Do you own props, or do you source and rent them?

We source and rent rather than carrying an inventory. Los Angeles has deep prop, furniture and material resources, and renting the right thing for a specific shoot beats owning an approximation of it. What we bring is knowing where it is, getting it there undamaged and getting it back on time.

Can you build or install a set?

We handle practical build and installation for photo-scale sets: flats, surfaces, backdrops, rigging small elements, assembling furniture, and the setup and strike around them. For substantial construction or a design-led build we work under a production designer or a set builder rather than in place of one.

What areas of Los Angeles do you cover?

Greater Los Angeles: Downtown LA and the Arts District, Hollywood, the Westside, Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City, the San Fernando Valley, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Malibu, Long Beach and the South Bay. We also take day trips further out when a location calls for it.

Can you support shoots in Malibu, Pasadena, Downtown LA, Santa Monica or Long Beach?

Yes. Each of those has its own practical realities: PCH drive times and coastal conditions in Malibu, freight elevators and dock windows downtown, permit-sensitive residential streets in Pasadena, beach and boardwalk rules on the Westside, port and industrial access in Long Beach. Knowing those before the day is most of what local support is worth.

How far in advance should we book?

A week or more is comfortable for a standard shoot day, because it leaves time to confirm access, sequence pickups and source anything that has to be found rather than rented. We do take shorter notice, and last-minute days are common in this business — the earlier the call, the more of the day we can plan rather than react to.

Do you carry insurance?

Yes, and we can provide a certificate of insurance for a production, a location or a rental house. Send the certificate holder details and the limits the production requires, and we will have it issued.

Do you handle permits?

We are not a permit service, but we know what a shoot day needs and will tell you plainly when a job looks like it needs one. Film and still-photography permits in the City of Los Angeles and unincorporated LA County are coordinated through FilmLA; some cities, including Malibu, Pasadena, Beverly Hills and Long Beach, run their own process, and county beaches are handled separately. Confirm the specifics for your location with the permit office before the day.

What does production support cost?

It depends on the crew, the vehicle and the number of days, so we quote against the actual job rather than publishing a rate card. Send the shoot dates, the locations and what you need moved or handled, and we will come back with a number and what is in it.
